Plans Book Vol. 1

Maryland and Pennsylvania RR Plans Book Volume One
(Pre-1901 Narrow Gauge Era)
by Robert L. Williams and the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad Historical Society

After an introduction written by Charles T. Mahan, Jr. and a brief history of the evolution of the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad from its narrow gauge origins by C. Stewart Rhine, this 94 page book contains 70 different historical drawings placed in the following five chapters: Station Plans; Track & Signal Plans; Bridge & Tunnel Plans; Plan & Profile Plans; and Right-of-way Plans.

Many of these historical drawings were quite large in size. Robert Williams spent long hours faithfully and meticulously reducing them to fit on single pages within this book! The book is spiral bound to lie flat or to quickly fold over. Front and rear covers are of heavy stock material.

Also included with each book is a companion index prepared by Rudy Fischer. This index furnishes many additional historical facts and information about each drawing and is included to enhance the enjoyment and use of this plans book.

The original size of many of the historical railroad drawings used in this book were quite large, and Robert Williams spent long hours faithfully and meticulously reducing them to fit on single pages! The book is spiral bound to lie flat for easy study of the drawings; and has a plastic laminated color front cover, black leatherette finish rear cover, and the front and rear covers are of heavy stock material.

Also included with each chapter in the book are companion index pages prepared by Rudy Fischer. The index pages furnish many additional historical facts and information about many of the drawings, and are included to enhance the enjoyment and use of this plans book.

Ma & Pa Fan Trip DVD

Ma & Pa Fan Trip, June 13, 1992

On June 13, 1992, Ma & Pa diesel No. 82, just repainted in its original 1950s livery, pulled a couple of roundtrip fan trips from York to Spring Grove, PA. Four privately owned passenger cars made up this train, the only time that No. 82 had ever been used to pull a fan trip.

Starting as No. 82 came out of the enginehouse at Princess Street and then passed by the M&P's former station at York on East Market Street, Rudy Fischer captured on videotape most of the events that took place that day, including filming the train from trackside at many grade crossings between York and Spring Grove.

This DVD contains just over an hour of footage taken that day.
